Muskegon is served by the Muskegon County Airport (MKG), located three miles from the center of the city. Northwest Airlines provides regional air service to Detroit Metro Airport. Also available is the Gerald R. Ford International Airport located 40 miles away in Grand Rapids.

Daily Greyhound bus service is available in downtown Muskegon. Daily Amtrak service to Chicago is available from Holland, Michigan located 25 miles to the south.
Car Ferry Service
The Lake Express Car Ferry service operates daily between Milwaukee and Muskegon from May to November.

Highways
Muskegon is the western terminus of interstate 96 (I-96) the major east-west highway running across the state of Michigan. US 31, the major north-south highway in western Michigan, also runs through Muskegon.
